Frequently Asked Questions

"How does it see at night? Will it shine a light"?

The cameras produce a red ring of lights at night (pictured). This emits a light not visible to the human eye. When a potential criminal sees this red ring, they know that their face is on camera.

“Does your company monitor the cameras"?

Tailored Surveillance does not monitor cameras. Cameras record constantly and footage can be reviewed by customer only. With extended Networked Package, customer can access camera feeds from any internet connection, mobile or PDA device.

“How do you install the cameras for the basic package”?

The cameras included in the BASIC Package are installed to the underside of the roof that extends past the house. A 3/4" hole (Size of quarter) is drilled for the wires and the camera is secured using screws.

“How long does the Basic Install take”?

The BASIC Package install takes approximately 1-2 hours.

“If a viewing device is not provided, how do I see my video”?

Any computer or television monitor will work for viewing. In fact, this is why most people choose to locate their Recording Box near a media center.

“What size is the equipment”?

The cameras are about the size of a soda can. The recording unit is the size of a cable box or DVD player.

“Can I view my system while away from home”?

Yes, networking option is available for remote viewing. In order to remotely view, you must have internet service and a Router.

“What if my unit or cameras stop working”?

All equipment comes with a 1 year warranty and is pre-tested prior to installation. Any defective equipment will be replaced within this warranty period.

“If I get a camera system, will it ensure that my home or business will be safe from burglary/theft"?

No. There is never a guarantee to any security system type, (Alarm, Guards, Surveillance), preventing an act of crime. The surveillance system is a way to document and record any acts against you or your property. However, there are certain steps that can be taken to ensure that the information and equipment cannot be tampered with.

"Can I put cameras inside my house"?

Yes. As long as person requesting install is the owner of property (or debt holder), cameras can be placed inside the home in non-private areas. In cases where the property is leased or rented, landlord approval will be needed.

"Can you install hidden cameras inside my home"?

Yes. Installations of covert cameras by homeowners is a common practice. They are referred to as "nanny-cams". Cameras have aided in prosecution of care takers responsible of abuse. (I will install video recording only, NO Audio). For Covert Installs, Property ownership will be cross-checked with information available at Municipal Offices for confirmation.
